In her photographic series, Incision, Alice Attie captures the intimate and vulnerable moments of surgery. Above is, Caesarean, an image from the collection that unveils the first moment of a new born. We don’t often see images of surgery, perhaps because it is unfamiliar and scary. Attie does not shy away from harsh realities. She uses photography to shine a revealing light, allowing us to encounter such procedures up close. As we grapple with our fear we come to a place of greater understanding. To see more of Alice Atties work visit http://aliceattie.com.
